Tasting Notes: from the wine maker

Gettin’ all bloggy

If there was anyone that had more fun at the Spring Festival than I did I still haven’t talked to them yet. I am pretty sure I out-danced everyone except maybe my neighbors’ son. If you have heard of “The Situation” from MTV, it was kind of like that. I think that’s why I like our festivals so much…there is such a huge range of folks here. There are people who have been coming here for years and put out their chairs and blankets (and tables) in the same spot every time…you can count on it. Then there are the newbies getting’ their groove on here for the first time. I love that mix.

So far, so good in the vineyards this year. We have had an early bud break, no frost, and mild weather. All of which means the vineyards are growing like crazy. All we need is another 3 ½ months of perfect weather and we will have a vintage to remember. That should be no problem in New England…

The wines available in our tasting room are really solid too. For the first time ever we have been able to pour all four of our Connecticut wines at once. The customers are loving it and I have actually changed my Old Faithful (CT Chard) for The Grizz (CT Pinot Gris) while it lasts. Oh yeah, we make a lot of great Napa wines too…

Come join us this summer as it is shaping up to be one to remember. The new bar on the stone patio is ready to roll and the winery doors are open whispering ever so gently to you to kick up your feet and have a glass…
